Exotic leathers are valued for their distinctive textures, natural patterns and refined appearance. Crocodile, lizard and ostrich leather each have different characteristics, but all require gentle handling and proper storage.
- Crocodile Leather Care
Crocodile leather is particularly sensitive to water, humidity, heat and prolonged sunlight.
If it becomes wet, immediately blot the surface with a clean, soft and lint-free cloth. Do not rub, press hard or use a hair dryer. Allow it to dry naturally in a cool and ventilated place.
- Matte crocodile leather should be protected from oils and repeated touching, as these may create uneven darkening or shine.
- Shiny crocodile leather requires extra protection from scratches, friction and pressure. Do not apply ordinary leather cream or polish, as it may affect the original glossy finish.
- Lizard Leather Care
Lizard leather is delicate because of its small, overlapping scales. Avoid repeatedly bending, folding or rubbing the leather, as this may cause the scales to lift, dry out or become damaged.
When gently wiping the surface, always follow the natural direction of the scales. Never rub against them.
Keep lizard leather away from water, heat, perfume, cosmetics and alcohol-based products. It should not be compressed beneath other bags or heavy objects.
- Ostrich Leather Care
Ostrich leather is soft, flexible and naturally porous. Its distinctive quill marks are part of the leather’s natural character.
Because ostrich leather can absorb moisture, oils and color more easily, always handle it with clean and dry hands. Avoid contact with hand cream, makeup, perfume and oily substances.
Light-colored ostrich leather may be stained by dark denim or other strongly colored fabrics. Avoid prolonged friction against clothing and be especially careful during humid weather.
Do not rub individual stains forcefully, as this may create uneven color or affect the natural texture. For visible stains, professional care is recommended.
Proper Storage and Protection
When the bag is not in use, gently fill the interior with clean, soft and colorless tissue paper to help maintain its original shape. Close the fastenings, arrange the straps carefully and place the bag inside a breathable dust bag.
Store it in a temperate, dry and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, strong lighting and heat sources. Do not use sealed plastic bags, and avoid placing moisture-absorbing sachets inside or beside the bag, as they may cause the leather to become excessively dry.
Avoid Harmful Contact
Ink, lipstick, makeup, perfume, alcohol-based products and oily substances may leave permanent marks on exotic leather. Light-colored leather should also be protected from repeated contact with dark or untreated fabrics, which may cause color transfer.
Do not overload the bag or place heavy, sharp or irregularly shaped objects inside, as this may stretch the leather and alter its original structure.
Important Care Advice
For occasional surface care, gently wipe the leather with a clean, soft and lint-free cloth. If it comes into contact with water, blot it immediately without rubbing and allow it to dry naturally.
Do not use ordinary leather creams, wet wipes, alcohol or household cleaning products. Products that are suitable for common leather may permanently alter the color, texture or finish of exotic leather.
For stains, scratches, deep cleaning or restoration, consult a professional who has experience working with exotic leather.
